When I saw a journalist seeking case studies for an article about age discrimination in the workplace I knew I had a story to tell.
Lucy Handley was writing a feature for High50.com about the difficulties facing the over-fifties on the job market. Add in being a woman over 50 and the UK government unemployment figures tell a sorry tale.
Lucy invited me to share my experience, along with two other women experiencing similar challenges.

Set up on your own, says Alyson Reay: “The lack of suitable jobs that fulfilled me and rewarded me motivated me to go on to set up my own business, and I haven’t looked back. I earn less than I did in the corporate world, but I absolutely love it.”
