I’m celebrating the Sassy Seven today… that’s seven years since I started my freelance business.
Seven years ago I started my self-employed business with one valued Non Executive Director client, who I still enjoy working with today.
Of course my business has evolved over the seven years, I have learned new skills and embraced the digital advances which led to me specialising in content management and marketing small brands online with Sassy Social Marketing.
Sassy has become so much more than a social marketing brand. Sassy has taken on a life of her own and her bold, lively, quick witted characteristics shine through all the work that I do with different clients, across different business areas.
The best thing about being freelance? I can be anything I want to be… I work flexibly, and I can be flexible about the work I do. I have the best of both worlds, one foot in corporate life with my Director clients, and one foot in the world of entrepreneurship helping new and small brands come to life online.
My corporate experience in the Executive Office of FTSE100 companies sets me in good stead for understanding the demands and priorities of corporate business clients. And years of experience in writing executive business communications gives me the grounding for developing communications and marketing for small brand clients. I have an eye for the stories within the business and the communication skills to share these strategically.
The worst thing about being freelance? I still miss being part of something bigger. I miss working with a team towards shared goals.
So in my eighth year I will find a way of addressing that. Instead of resisting that feeling, I know I can have it all. The future is Sassy!
Happy New Year, and thank you to everyone for supporting me in the first Sassy seven years.
